UKCMB Deputy Academic Director Yasemin Aktas and UKCMB Affiliate Spyros Efthymiopoulos have recently come back from their field work in Nunavik, Canada for the Resilient Responses to Protect Lung Health in Nunavik (Anirniq) project. Anirniq brings together a multidisciplinary coalition of researchers, healthcare workers, Nunavik Inuit community members and organizations responsible for health and housing services, to co-create a novel community health worker-led lung health program, in which community members are involved in evaluating and addressing biomedical, social and housing-related determinants of lung health via an approach integrating the Nunavik Inuit cultural model of health.
