This project will review research globally on the effects of moisture in buildings upon occupant health. Moisture issues in relation to the larger questions about health in buildings will be considered so that a holistic view of health and place moisture issues can be obtained. A gap analysis and critical assessment will be performed to be followed with recommendations for essential research work with reference to the UK. In addition to the gap analysis, modelling work will be conducted to identify health effects of moisture in buildings in the UK in relevant scenarios to be identified in the literature review.

A short clear summary report, with well-designed layout and graphics, aimed at industry, public and policy makers will be one of the project deliverables.

This work is to be undertaken by an expert group including academics from UCL and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and possibly other expert health clinicians and public health experts.

The support of Saint-Gobain Research is gratefully acknowledged for this project.
